The Chapel Hill women’s basketball team suffered a 57-29 loss to Southeast Guilford in the first round of the NCHSAA 3A state playoffs on Tuesday night.
The Tigers concluded the season with a 11-15 overall record, going 7-7 in the Big Eight 3A conference to finish in fourth place.
Sophomore Morgan Korfas led the the Tigers in scoring with 13.8 points per game and freshman Laney Beale dished out a team best 2.9 assists per game.
Since Chapel Hill’s 5-21 record in 2017, the Tigers have seen the number in the win column increase by three in each of the last two years.
Senior Holly Heizer is optimistic about the future of Chapel Hill women’s basketball.
“I feel like a foundation was laid down this season,” Heizer said. “Chapel Hill basketball has a lot to look forward to in the coming years.”
