The Jonas Brothers performed at the Coastal Credit Union Park in Raleigh on October 13, the band’s second show in North Carolina after playing in Charlotte the previous day.
Jordan McGraw, the son of television host and psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw, took the stage first and his band’s performance was, to say the least, unique. McGraw encouraged fans to scream their favorite cuss word in honor of his guitarist’s birthday. The crowd was more than happy to oblige him as one particular expletive reverberated throughout the stadium. McGraw and his band’s excited attitude was a great start to the concert and got the audience ready for the night ahead of them.
Next up was country pop singer Kelsea Ballerini, whose performance was a little more family friendly. Ballerini started by belting out her song, “Miss Me More,” and she shared a sweet video of her audition for a Jonas Brothers meet and greet in 2008 that made fans feel an instant connection with the singer. Her performance included exciting visuals, catchy music and interesting stories.
Finally, after much anticipation, it was time for the Jonas Brothers. The band burst into their hit single, “Remember This,” which came out on June 18. Fans belted out the lyrics and excitedly sang along with the band. The brothers showed off their personalities throughout the song as they danced and strutted across the stage.
The band played a mix of songs from their Disney days, separate careers, and the Happiness Begins album, which was released on June 7, 2019 and propelled the band’s comeback after the Jonas Brothers split up in 2013.
Fans screamed out their favorite songs, danced and squealed in delight as the band played its past and current hits. The audience’s favorites were “Burnin´ Up,” “Jealous,” and “Cake by the Ocean.” Everyone was particularly excited to see JinJoo Lee, the guitarist from Joe Jonas’s old band DNCE, appear on stage and shred on the guitar.
Throughout the concert, there were many exciting visuals. The lighting always reflected the tone of the song being performed. The stadium would turn from shades of blues, pinks, reds, and about every color you could think of in a matter of seconds to add to the band’s performance. The concert also offered dazzling pyrotechnics; for example, while the Jonas Brothers sang “Burnin’ Up,” fire shot into the air.
The singing, dancing and lighting would have made the concert memorable enough, but the band’s interactions with the audience made the evening unforgettable. Nick Jonas took the time to thank the crowd for supporting the band over the years and continuing to do so. After his heartwarming speech, the band surprised the audience by revealing that the inside of their piano was secretly a bar. The brothers took a celebratory shot before performing “When You Look Me in the Eyes.”
The “Remember This Tour” more than managed to live up to its name, and all the fans present are sure to remember the concert for years to come. All of the evening’s performers created a fun and lighthearted experience that many in the crowd needed during these unprecedented times; now, the only questions fans are asking themselves is when they can catch another performance.
