The Chapel Hill women’s soccer team defeated Jacksonville High School 2-1 in the 3A state semifinal match on May 22, advancing to the championship match, where the Tigers will face Cox Mill on Saturday.
After the Tigers went down 1-0 early in the second half, Chapel Hill evened the game up with five minutes remaining.
Regulation ended in a tie, sending the game to overtime, when sophomore Avery Look scored what became the winning goal with less than one minute into overtime.
With the win, the Tigers will play in their first championship since they defeated Weddington High School in 2014.
